The Philippines Presidential Palace, Malacañang, has announced that Monday and Tuesday, August 20 and 21, 2012 had been declared non-working public holidays in the Philippines.

The declaration of Tuesday, August 21, 2012 as a non-working public holidays in the Philippines is in line with last year's (01-Dec-2011) Proclamation No. 295, s. 2011 which lists the special and regular public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2012.

That same proclamation also included a "to be announced" slot to be filled-in for the Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holiday added to the list of Philippines public holidays a decade ago (23-Jan-2002).

Last week (31-Jul-2012), the Philippines Muslim authorities has announced that the date of the the date of the upcoming Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan) religious festival in the Philippines would be Saturday, August 18, 2012. It seems that the Philippines government decided that it would observe the upcoming Eid’l Fitr public holiday on the Monday sandwiched between the weekend and this year's Ninoy Aquino Day public holiday.
