The Consejo de Gobierno de la Comunidad de Madrid has published the list of official 2013 non-working public holidays (calendario laboral) in Spain's Autonomous Comunidad de Madrid.
After being absent from the Madrid Region's Calendario Laboral for many years (30-Sep-2007), the San José public holiday which was restored last year (16-Sep-2011) will next year be moved to the previous day, as might also be the case by the autonomous province of Valencia (09-Sep-2012).
Once again (16-Sep-2011), and contrary to what happened for many years (12-Sep-2010, 07-Oct-2009 and 26-Sep-2008), Corpus Christi will not be one of the regional public holidays of the autonomous community of Madrid for the calendar year 2013. This public holiday was restored in 2009 after being dropped as a national public holiday throughout Spain in 1976.
Interestingly, Corpus Christi was declared as one of the official 2011 regional public holidays of Spain's Autonomous Región of Castilla La-Mancha (01-Sep-2010), and then again the 2 following years (21-Sep-2012 and 24-Sep-2011).
Finally, in addition to the aforementioned 14 regional public holidays in the autonomous region of Madrid, the city of Madrid itself observes May 15 (San Isidro) and November 9 (La Almudena) as municipal public holidays.
