Tongan Public Holidays March 26-27

(Posted on Friday, March 23, 2012)

Source: Tonga Ministry of Information and Communications (Nuku'alofa)

Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications has issued a communiqué announcing that, following the death of King Tupou V, Monday and Tuesday, March 26 and 27, 2012, had been declared as additional non-working public holidays throughout Tonga.

It is not clear if the death of King Tupou V will have an effect on the current official legislation regulation non-working public holidays in Tonga, as the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which was signed into law 2 years ago (19-May-2010) contains a public holiday for the birthday of King Tupou V and one for the Crown Prince's Birthday.
