The Tongan Ministry of Information and Communications has published a revised list of official non-working public holidays in Tonga for the calendar year 2012, following last spring's death of King Tupou V.
As per the government's aforementioned announcement, the date of September 17, 2012, is listed as a new public holiday for the official birthday of Crown Prince of Tonga (Tupouto'a ‘Ulukalala). The official announcement does point out, however, that this is "to be confirmed by Cabinet and gazetted for".
King Tupou V died last spring (23-Mar-2012) and after a mourning period, the Crown Prince was married (02-Jul-2012) with a switch in the dates of the reigning King's official birthday, and an uncertainty as to the date of the new Crown Prince's birthday holiday.
