As per the aforementioned vide notification, "this holiday shall be applicable to, all government offices, revenue and magisterial courts (executive) in the state of Odisha", adding that, in compensation, Saturday, September 13, 2025, will be a regular working day in the offices of the Government of Odisha. The aforementioned announcement thus partially amends the terms of the Government vide notification RDM-Reg-Misc-0013-2024-39068/R-D.M, released last November by the same Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the Government of Odisha, and which listed 2025 Odisha public holidays. Jordan Public Holiday For Prophet Mohammad's Birthday September 16 Jordan News Agency Petra (Amman) Earlier today, Jordanian Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, announced that the upcoming public holiday for Prophet Mohammad's birthday (Mawlid al-Nabi) would be observed on Thursday, September 4, 2025, and that this suspension of work would apply to "all ministries, government departments, public institutions and bodies, public universities, municipalities, joint service councils the Greater Amman Municipality and government-owned companies". As usual, the above may seem to indicate that the announcement does not apply to the private sector. However, recall that, back in October 2020, the then spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Labour, Mohammad al-Zyoud, had clarified that "all official and religious holidays in Jordan include both public and private sectors" adding that "According to article 59 of the Labour Law, which clarifies the mechanism for making the employer work on his weekly, religious or public holidays, official communications issued for this purpose include private sector institutions without mentioning them in the communications.". This clarification was reiterated by the Jordanian Ministry of Labour many times, since then, most recently in late May, June, and July 2024.

Liberia Declares National Flag Day Public Holidays On August 24-25 Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Monrovia) The President of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has issued a proclamation declaring Sunday, August 24, 2025, as a public holiday to be observed throughout the Republic of Liberia on account of National Flag Day. As per the aforementioned proclamation, "National Flag Day is to be observed throughout the Republic on Monday, August 25, 2025, as a Public Holiday". The National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia approved on October 25, 1915, an act declaring the 24th day of August of each year as "National Flag Day", to be observed throughout the Republic as a National Holiday. Such last-minute re-confirmation of annual public holidays are a staple of the Liberian public holidays calendar. Last year, for example, President Boakai had issued a proclamation declaring Saturday, August 24, 2024, as a non-working public holiday to be observed throughout the Republic of Liberia as national non-working public holidays on account of National Flag Day a day on which, as per the announcement by the Foreign Ministry, "all Government offices, public and business houses are to remain closed".

Lumbini Province Declares August 24 Public Holiday Nepalese Ministry of Home Affairs (Kathmandu) The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of Nepal's Province of Lumbini has declared a public holiday on Sunday, August 24, 2025, to mark the Barka Atwari festival celebrated by the Tharu community, in six districts; Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, and West Nawalparasi. Recall that in early March 2023, the Nepalese federal government cabinet decided that provincial governments could add up to six public holidays a year to the national list of Nepalese public holidays released by the federal government, with the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs deciding the regional public holidays to be observed in the Kathmandu valley. Note that, despite being declared on a Sunday, the aforementioned will be a day off, as Nepal has observed a one-day weekend on Saturdays, for decades, apart for 2 brief intervals, in 2000-2001, and in the spring of 2022, when a two-day weekend was tried briefly.

NSW Petition To Add Family and Community Day Public Holiday Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees' Association (SDA) of Australia's State of New South Wales has launched a petition to declare a new annual Family and Community Day public holiday to be observed in September, and with the stated aim of "promoting the wellbeing and cohesion of our community". In August 2017, the then Shadow Minister for Human Services of the NSW Labor Party, Linda Burney, announced that, in the event of a victory by the Labor Party in the 2019 NSW state elections, the government of New South Wales would declare a new non-working public holiday to celebrate the culture, people and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and this was confirmed in June of 2018 when the 2019 election date had been set, by the then Labor Party Opposition Leader of Australia's State of New South Wales, Luke Foley. The topic of state-wise public holidays is also being considered in Western Australia, where, over the past couple of months, the WA Government conducted a public consultation on its announced goal of reforming the State’s public holiday schedule, in particular as regards WA's observance dates for the King’s Birthday, Labour Day and WA Day.

Uzbekistan Rules-Out Extended Independence Day Public Holidays Uzbek National News Agency (Tashkent) The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Government of Uzbekistan has announced that the upcoming Independence Day public holiday be celebrated on September 1st and that no extended public holidays would be declared ("No additional days off have been established, and no transfers are planned"). Recall that, last year, the Government of Uzbekistan extended the then upcoming Independence Day public holiday to run for 4 consecutive days, from Saturday, August 31, until Tuesday, September 3, 2024, inclusively, due to Uzbekistan's Independence Day falling on a Sunday in 2024, and being moved to Monday, September 2, 2024, and September 3 having been declared "an additional day off for all employees, regardless of their workweek schedule" by the Government of Uzbekistan, in December 2023, as per the presidential decree of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, declaring additional public holidays in Uzbekistan during the calendar year 2024 (Об установлении дополнительных нерабочих дней в период празднования официальных дат и переносе выходных дней в 2024 году). In 2021, the Government of Uzbekistan similarly extended the then upcoming public holidays for the 30th anniversary of the independence of Uzbekistan to run from September 1st to September 5th, 2021, inclusively.
