(Posted on Thursday, September 3, 2015)

Source: Diario Oficial de Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM)

The previously-announced annual list of regional non-working public holidays in Spain's Autonomous Región of Castilla La-Mancha for the upcoming calendar year 2016 ("calendario laboral de las fiestas laborales de carácter retribuido y no recuperable en el año 2016, en Castilla-La Mancha") has been gazetted in the Diario Oficial de Castilla-La Mancha.

The aforementioned "Decreto 199/2015, de 1 de septiembre de 2015, por el que se fija el calendario laboral para el año 2016 en la Comunidad Autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha" (DOCM de 3 de septiembre de 2015) does contain a last-minute unannounced surprise in the form of the declaration of Monday, December 26, 2016, as a regional non-working public holidays in Spain's Autonomous Región of Castilla La-Mancha, due to the annual December 25 public holiday falling on a Sunday in 2016 ("26 de diciembre, al coincidir en domingo el día 25 de diciembre, Natividad del Señor").

A couple of months ago (17-Jun-2015), the Consejo de Gobierno de Comunidad Autónoma de Castilla La-Mancha, had announced its annual list of regional non-working public holidays in Spain's Autonomous Región of Castilla La-Mancha for the upcoming calendar year 2016 ("calendario laboral de las fiestas laborales de carácter retribuido y no recuperable en el año 2016, en Castilla-La Mancha").

In 2016, in addition to December 26, and contrary to last year (13-Jun-2014), the Autonomous Región of Castilla La-Mancha will declare a regional public holiday on May 31 (Día de la Región de Castilla-La Mancha) as it falls on a weekday, as it did in some past years (01-Oct-2013 and 27-Jul-2013), but not all (21-Sep-2012, 01-Sep-2010 and 14-Sep-2009). In addition, the ("día del Corpus Christi") will be a regional public holiday in the Autonomous Región of Castilla La-Mancha for the sixth year in a row (24-Sep-2011 and 01-Sep-2010).
