(Posted on Thursday, March 10, 2016)

Source: Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs (Colombo)

The Sri Lankan Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs, J.J. Rathnasiri, has announced that the Sri Lankan Government had decided to declare March 13, 2016, as a national day of mourning in Sri Lanka in view of the funeral on that day of the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera.

The aforementioned declaration of March 13, 2016, as a national day of mourning in Sri Lanka in view of the funeral on that day of the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera, does not affect the official list of Sri Lankan public holidays for the calendar year 2016 as announced last spring (29-May-2015).
