Australia Rules-Out Tasmania Aboriginal Public Holiday

(Posted on Friday, January 27, 2017)

Source: Tasmanian Government Media Releases (Hobart)

The Premier of Australia's State of Tasmania, Will Hodgman, has stated that the government of the Australian State of Tasmania had no intentions of including, in his government’s reconciliation agenda, a new non-working public holiday Tasmania in honour of the state’s First People.

The aforementioned statement that the Australian State of Tasmania had no intentions of including a new non-working public holiday Tasmania in honour of the state’s First People, follows the recent announcement by the Government of the ACT (Australia's Capital Territory), who last summer (28-Aug-2016), confirmed that there would be a new annual Reconciliation Day non-working public holiday in Australia's ACT (Australia's Capital Territory), beginning in 2018, following public consultations earlier that same year (08-Jun-2016).
