Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, has announced that Thursday, October 5, 2017, had been declared as a one-off public holiday in Brunei Darussalam "in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty’s ascension to the throne".

The aforementioned declaration of Thursday, October 5, 2017, had been declared as a one-off public holiday in Brunei Darussalam coincides with the last day of the aforementioned Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Recall that in the 2013-2014-2015 list of Brunei public holidays (01-Jul-2015, 28-Jun-2014 and 08-Jul-2013), there was each time the declaration of another one-off public holiday in August for the observance of the birthday of the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as his birthday fell during the month of Ramadan.
