Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Rosario Murillo, has issued a communique declaring that Tuesday, May 30, 2017, would once again be a non-working public sector holiday in Nicaragua, in accordance with the Decreto Presidencial 22-2010, to mark Nicaragua's Mothers' Day ("Día de las Madres Nicaragüenses").

As per the aforementioned announcement, as is usually done (24-May-2016, 27-May-2014, 24-May-2013, 28-May-2012, 25-Apr-2012 and 28-May-2011), the Tuesday, May 30, 2017, non-working public sector holiday will apply to the public sector of the economy of Nicaragua (ie. employees of the state).

The Nicaraguan private sector is left to decide the observance or not of this public holiday on a case-by-case basis (los trabajadores del sector privado se regirán conforme los acuerdos que alcancen entre las partes).
