(Posted on Monday, May 1, 2017)

Source: Governo de Portugal (Lisboa)

The government of Portugal has declared a national public sector holiday (tolerância de ponto) on Friday, May 12, 2017, to coincide with the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to Portugal.

Seven years ago (15-Apr-2010), the government of Portugal had similarly decided to declare a national public sector holiday (tolerância de ponto) on Thursday, May 13, 2010, to coincide with the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Portugal. Some regional public sector holidays were also declared at the regional level, on the afternoon of May 11 in Lisbon, and the morning of May 14, in Porto, Portugal's industrial base and its second largest city.
