The government of Suriname, via its Minister of the Interior, has announced that the upcoming "Ied Ul Adha" (Feast of Sacrifice) annual non-working public holiday in Suriname would be observed on Friday, September 1, 2017, a date which has been declared a non-working public holiday in Suriname.

The aforementioned announcement ("Ied-ul-adha , het offerfeest van de moslims valt dit jaar op vrijdag 1 september 2017.") that Friday, September 1, 2017, has been declared a non-working public holiday in Suriname, contrary to recent years (26-Aug-2016 and 17-Sep-2015), is on the exact date as that listed in the expected Suriname public holidays dates for the calendar year 2017, released at the beginning of this year (09-Jan-2017), which listed Friday, September 1, 2017, as the expected date for the "Ied Ul Adha" (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday in Suriname.
