Background Information

Governing Law: The list and dates of official public holidays in Barbados are regulated by the Public Holidays (CAP352), "An Act to amend and consolidate the Acts relating to bank holidays and public holidays", of 1968, particularly in its Section 3 and First Schedule.  Weekend Public Holidays: Where a designated Public Holiday falls on a Sunday, the day after will be celebrated.  However, Emancipation Day, in Barbados, is fixed on August 1, and will only be moved uder very specific conditions.
