30 Dec 2011 (Yap State Government-Colonia) The governor of Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia, Sebastian Anefal, has announced that Monday, January 2, 2011, would be an additional non-working public holiday throughout Yap State. • 25 Mar 2010 (FSM Information Services-Pohnpei) The President of the Federated States of Micronesia, Emanuel (aka. Manny) Mori, has signed into law legislation that creates a new annual March 31st public holiday called "Micronesian Culture and Traditions Day". • 26 Feb 2010 (Marianas Variety-Colonia) The governor of Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia, Sebastian L. Anefal, has declared an additional public sector holiday, on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, on account of this year's Yap Day celebrations. • 22 Jun 2009 (FSM Information Services-Pohnpei) FSM President, Manny Mori, signed a Presidential Proclamation declaring a 4-day national period of mourning, from June 23-26, 2009, on the occasion of the passing of the late Honorable Vice-Speaker and Dauk of U, Resio S. Governing Law: Official public holidays in the Federated States of Micronesia are regulated by Section 603 of title 1 of the Code of the Federated States of Micronesia, as amended in 2004 by the Congressional Bill No.13-97, C.D.1 (Public Law No.13-38) which added Veterans' Day to the list of national public holidays. • Weekend Public Holidays: Generally, federal/national public holidays that fall on Saturday are observed on the proceeding Friday and public holidays that fall on Sunday are observed on the following Monday.
