01 May 2013 Azerbaijan Electoral Public Holidays Approved (Azeri-Press Agency-APA) Azerbaijan's Parliament has approved amendments to the elcetoral code of Azerbaijan which declares the date of future elections as one-off electoral non-working public holidays in Azerbaijan.
• 14 Feb 2013 Azerbaijan 2013 Novruz Public Holidays Extended (Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers-Baku) The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decision, once again extending the upcoming Novruz non-working public holidays in Azerbaijan to 7 consecutive days.

• 28 Nov 2012 Azerbaijani 2013 New Year Public Holidays Announced (Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers-Baku) Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers has announced the period of Saturday, December, 29, 2012, to Wednesday, January 2, 2013, as non-working public holidays in Azerbaijan on account of the upcoming "Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis" and "Western New Year" public holidays.
• 24 Aug 2012 Azerbaijani 2012 Eid al-Adha Public Holidays (Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers-Baku) Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decree declaring Thursday and Friday, October 25 and 26, 2012, as non-working public holidays on account of this year's Gurban Bayram (Feast of Sacrifice, or Eid al-Adha) public holidays.
• 07 Aug 2012 Azerbaijan 2012 Ramadan Public Holidays (Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers-Baku) Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decree creating another 4-day Ramazan Bayram (End of Ramadan) public holidays from Saturday, August 18, until Tuesday, August 21, 2012, inclusively.
• 09 Mar 2012 Azerbaijan October 18 Public Holidays Restored (Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers-Baku) The decision of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, restoring the October 18 annual non-working public holiday, has been adopted.
• 21 Feb 2012 Azerbaijan 2012 Novruz Public Holidays Extended (Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers-Baku) The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decision, extending the upcoming Novruz non-working public holidays in Azerbaijan to 7 consecutive days.

Governing Law: Official public holidays in Azerbaijan are governed by Chapter V Division 15 Article 105 of the February 1, 1999, labour code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
• Weekend Public Holidays: Beginning in 2006, public holidays that fall on a week-end are moved to the following Monday.
• Amendments of the National Holidays were made to the Labour Code at the end of 2006. In particular, Independence Day (18 October), Constitution Day (12 November) and National Revival Day (17 November), remain as holidays in the calendar but have henceforth been considered working days.
• Working Holidays: Azerbaijan has other days of note that, although they are sometimes referred to as holidays (and some may have been public holidays in the past), are now working days. Days of Note:
• January 20: Memorial Day,
also known as Day of Shehids', Martyrs' Day, Remembrance Day, Day of Mourning (regulated by Article 106 of the labour code of the Republic of Azerbaijan).
• February 26: Day of Khojali Remembrance
• March 31 - Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
• Nagorno Karabakh This semi independent territory has its own set of official public holidays:
• New Year: December 31, January 1, 2
• Orthodox Christmas: January 6
• Women's Day: March 8
• Genocide Memorial Day [1915]: April 24
• Worker's Solidarity Day: May 1
• Victory, Armed Forces & Shushi Liberation Day [1945, 1992]: May 9
• First Armenian Republic Day [1918]: May 28
• Independence Day [1991]: September 2.

Muslim Holidays : Muslim bank holidays, legal holidays and public holidays for Azerbaijan were evaluated using the Umm al-Qura Calendar of Saudi Arabia which is used in Saudi Arabia and in most of the Persian Gulf States. Holidays may occur a day later in countries outside the Gulf region. The sunrises, sunsets, moon phases, moonrises and moonsets used in these calculations are based on the location of Mecca (latitude 21.42°N, longitude, 39.82°E, GMT+3 hours, no summer time rules).
