Governing Law: Official public holidays in the Netherlands are regulated by the Factories Act 1946 (LS 1946 - NZ 4 to 1949 - NZ 4) as amended by the Factories Amendment Act 1972. • Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example). • Remembrance Day: Every year on the 4th of May at eight o'clock in the evening, the nation stops for two minutes of silence in remembrance of the victims of all wars since the beginning of the Second World War. Remembrance services are held around the country.
