The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan has responded favorably to the request by Majilis deputy, Kenzhegul Seitzhan, to add June 1st, Children's Day, as a new annual public holiday in Kazakhstan.

Based on this, we consider the current procedure for transferring days off to other working days to be optimal".

Bolivia's Minister of Labor, Erland Rodríguez, officially ruled-out the possibility of moving the upcoming Andean, Amazonian and Chaco New Year holiday, from Saturday, June 21, to Friday 20, so that it might be combined with the Corpus Christi public holiday of Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Recall that, last weekend, Bolivia's Vice Minister of Tourism, Hiver Flores, had sent a proposal to the Bolivian Ministry of Labor to move the upcoming Aymara New Year (Andean, Amazonian and Chaco New Year) public holiday, which this year falls on Saturday, June 21, to Friday, June 20, 2025, to provide a long holiday which would benefit internal tourism.

That June 21 annual public holiday was set as per the 2008 Decreto Supremo Nº 173 declaring that the Indigenous New Year, on June 21, would henceforth be an annual public holiday in Bolivia, and that the date of this new public holiday would be immovable, even when June 21 occurs on a Saturday or Sunday (as is the case this year).

  • Jordan Declares June 26 Public Holiday For Islamic New Year 1447
    Jordan News Agency Petra (Amman)

Jordanian Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, has announced that the upcoming Islamic New Year public holiday in Jordan would be observed on Thursday, June 26, 2026, and that this suspension of work would apply to all ministries, official agencies, institutions, public universities, municipalities, joint service councils and entities fully owned by the government.

As usual, the above may seem to indicate that the announcement does not apply to the private sector. However, recall that, back in October 2020, the then spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Labour, Mohammad al-Zyoud, had clarified that "all official and religious holidays in Jordan include both public and private sectors" adding that "According to article 59 of the Labour Law, which clarifies the mechanism for making the employer work on his weekly, religious or public holidays, official communications issued for this purpose include private sector institutions without mentioning them in the communications.".

This clarification was reiterated by the Jordanian Ministry of Labour many times, since then, most recently in late May and early June 2024.
