Bolivia's Minister of Labour has announced that the upcoming Easter public holidays in Bolivia would once again begin on the afternoon of Maundy Thursday, with Good Friday (March 29, 2013) having been declared a national public holiday in Bolivia (feriado nacional).

As per the statement released by the Bolivian Ministerio de Trabajo, Empleo y Previsión Social, the day before Good Friday will be non-working in the late afternoon following a continuous workday in the public sector ("dispuso para el día jueves jornada continua de trabajo para la administración pública").

Last year (30-Mar-2012), Maundy Thursday had been declared a full-day public holiday for the private and public sectors, but 2 years ago (20-Apr-2011), Bolivia's then Minister of Labour, Felix Rojas, had announced that the 2011 Easter public holidays would begin on Thursday, April 21, 2011, but only at 16:00 (4pm in the afternoon).

The declaration of Good Friday as a national non-working public holiday in Bolivia in 2013 follows from the 2010 general announcement (29-Jan-2010) by Bolivia's Minister of the Presidency, Óscar Coca, that Bolivia's cabinet had decided to maintain all traditional Catholic public holidays, and this despite announcements by some high-level civil servants that the implementation of the new constitution (CPE) would probably mean that all the religious public holidays of Bolivia would eventually be replaced by non-religious ones (08-Apr-2009).
