Ukraine Confirms May 18 Not A Public Holiday

Source: Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine (Kiev)
Posted: Friday, May 17, 2013

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine has issued a communique re-confirming that, as announced last December in conjunction with the official list of 2013 non-working public holidays in the Ukraine, Saturday, May 18, 2013, would be a regular working day in the Ukraine.

The aforementioned announcement is in line with last December's (2012-12-19) resolution passed by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine, specifying the official list of 2013 non-working public holidays in the Ukraine, a list which included additional non-working public holidays in the Ukraine on Friday, May 3, and Friday, May 10, 2013.

As was done in the past (2012-05-30, 2012-04-23, 2012-03-01, 2011-06-20, 2011-02-24, 2010-08-13, 2008-12-10, 2007-11-29, and 2005-12-23), these additional one-off bridge public holidays are to be compensated by corresponding working Saturdays.

The list of May 2013 one-off non-working public holidays, and corresponding working Saturdays, such as May 18, was confirmed late last month (2013-04-26).

Note, however, that despite Saturday, May 18, 2013, being a regular working day in the Ukraine, no trading will take place on the First Ukrainian Trading System (PFTS) and Ukrainian Exchange (UX).
