The President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has decided to extend the upcoming Alhaa Eid holidays annual public holidays in the Maldives, by one day, by declaring an additional non-working public holiday in the Maldives on Friday, September 15, 2016.
Earlier this year, Maldives President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, had already extended the Independence Day annual public holidays in the Maldives twice (2016-07-28 and 2016-07-12), to link them to the following weekend by declaring 2 additional non-working public holidays in the Maldives.
As per the text of the today's announcement, "This extends the Alhaa Eid holidays, with Government offices set to reopen on Sunday, 18th September", and the previously-announced (2016-01-04), and later modified (2016-07-28 and 2016-07-12), list of 2016 public holidays in the Maldives has thus been amended again.
In a separate statement, the Information Officer of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Mansoor Zubair, announced that, although September 9 to 14 had been declared as public holidays on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha, banks in the Maldives would resume services from September 14.
