Moldovan Public Holidays August 27-31

Moldova's Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Government Resolution 1005 of August 24, 2016, which declared Monday and Tuesday, August 29 and 30, 2016, as one-off bridge public holidays in Moldova, to link the upcoming, August 31, Romanian Language Day, annual public holiday of Moldova, with the preceding weekend (which also includes the, August 27, Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova annual public holiday of Moldova.

Contrary to the previous declaration of Monday, March 7, 2016, as a one-off bridge non-working public sector holiday in Moldova, on account of the 2016 International Women's Day annual non-working public holiday of Moldova (2016-03-01), which was contained in the list of the annual additional non-working public holidays in 2016 in Moldova ("cu privire la zilele de odihna în anul 2016" and the later "Cu privire la transferul zilei de odihnă în anul 2016"), released last fall (2015-10-26) and then completed (2015-12-28 and 2015-12-16), by the government of Moldova, the aforementioned announcement of Monday and Tuesday, August 29 and 30, 2016, as one-off bridge public holidays in Moldova was not contained in the list of the annual additional non-working public holidays in 2016 in Moldova released last fall (2015-10-26).

As usual (2016-03-01, 2011-02-18, 2010-08-10, 2009-12-04 and 2008-12-10), the aforementioned decision by the Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers to declare Monday and Tuesday, August 29 and 30, 2016, as one-off bridge public holidays in Moldova, to link the upcoming, August 31, Romanian Language Day, annual public holiday of Moldova, with the preceding weekend, will be compensated by Saturday, September 24, 2016, and Saturday, September 22, 2016, being declared regular working days in Moldova.
