Earlier this morning, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has in turn announced that the State Bank of Pakistan and the commercial banks of Pakistan would observe their annual Moharram-ul-Haram (aka. Ashura) bank holidays on October 11-12, 2016, analogously to the same non-working public holidays announced last week by the Ministry of the Interior of the Federal Government of Pakistan.
Early last week (2016-10-04), the Ministry of the Interior of the Federal Government of Pakistan announced the dates for the upcoming Ashura (Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain) annual non-working public holidays throughout Pakistan for the calendar year 2016, as Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11 and 12, 2016 (Muharram 9 and 10, 1438 AH), in line with the Ashura public holidays in Pakistan announced in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2016" published by the Government of Pakistan at the beginning of the current year (2016-02-01).
