The Algerian Ministère Du Travail Et De La Sécurité Sociale has announced that Friday, September 22, 2017, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of the upcoming Hijri 1439 Islamic New Year annual non-working public holiday of Algeria.
As usual (2016-12-08, 2016-10-10, 2016-09-28, 2016-09-04, 2016-07-01, 2015-10-13, 2014-10-03, 2014-07-27, 2013-11-13, 2012-11-14, 2012-08-17 and 2011-02-13), the aforementioned announcement that Friday, September 22, 2017, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria ("Le 1er Moharram est une journée chômée et payée pour l’ensemble des agents administratifs et des travailleurs y compris ceux qui travaillent à l’heure", must be tempered by the recollection that, 8 years ago (2009-07-24), the Algerian government changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to the "mixed" or "semi-universal" Friday/Saturday weekend.
