Angola's Ministry of Public Service and Social Security (Ministério da Administração Pública, Trabalho e Segurança Social-MAPTSS) has announced that Tuesday, September 26, 2017, had been declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Angola on account of the upcoming inauguration of President-elect, João Lourenço, and Vice-President elect, Bornito de Sousa.
The aforementioned announcement that Tuesday, September 26, 2017, had been declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Angola ("comunica ao público em geral e, em especial, as empresas e serviços, que será suspensa a actividade laboral no dia 26 do corrente mês nos termos previstos na Lei nº 10/11, de 16 de Fevereiro (Lei dos Feriados Nacionais e Locais e Datas de Celebração Nacional)."), is in addition to the the list of 2017 public holidays in Angola as announced earlier this year (09-Jan-2017), but in line with the "Lei dos Feriados Nacionais e Locais e Datas de Celebração Nacional" which revised (16-Dec-2010) the legislation on public holidays in Angola, and whose reconciled bill was approved without any substantial changes (20-Jan-2011) and signed into law by Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, the following month (15-Feb-2011).
