Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee has announced that it had sighted the New Moon crescent earlier tonight and, therefore, that the upcoming Ashura, and related annual non-working public holiday in Bangladesh, would be observed across the country on Sunday, October 1, 2017, which corresponds to the previously-announced date for Ashura, and related public holiday in Bangladesh.
The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Ashura public holiday in Bangladesh would be observed on Sunday, October 1, 2017 is in line with the date announced in the list of non-working public holidays in Bangladesh in 2017, which was released last fall (2017-03-23, 2016-12-03 and 2016-11-25) by the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
