The State Government of India's state of West Bengal has issued a notification declaring 2 public holidays in India's state of West Bengal on account of Chhat Puja, on Thursday and Friday, October 26-27, 2017.

The aforementioned announcement of a sectorial public holiday on October 26 ("for the employees hailing mainly from the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and UP and working in the state government offices, local bodies, boards, corporations, undertakings and educational institutions all over the state"), and a State public holiday on October 27, on account of Chhat Puja, thus amends the previously-released list of West Bengal non-working public holidays for the calendar year 2017 (2016-11-01).

India's state of West Bengal thus joins Bihar (2016-12-16), Haryana (2016-11-26), and Jharkhand (2016-12-18), which have already declared Chhat Puja/Surya Sasthi as a public holiday for the calendar year 2017.
