Following the passage of hurricane Mara, Montserrat's Governor, Elizabeth Carriere, and Deputy Governor, Lyndell Simpson, have announced that all government offices would be closed form today, September 20, until the end of the week.
The aforementioned announcement that September 20-22, 2017, had been declared as public sector holidays in Montserrat, thus departs from the consolidated version of the "Public Holidays Act, Revised Edition, showing the law as at 1 January 2002, CHAPTER 6.09" which consolidated the amendments of 1956, 1959, 1971, and 1999 (10-Dec-1999) into the initial Act 19 of 1954, S.R.O. 15/1956, as recently amended by the "Montserrat Public Holidays (Amendment) Act, 2017 No. 3 of 2017" (24-May-2017).
