Panama's President, Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez, has declared tomorrow, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, as a one-off public holiday in Panama to celebrate Panama's qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia in 2018.
The aforementioned announcement that Wednesday, October 11, 2017, had been declared as a one-off public holiday in Panama to celebrate Panama's qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia in 2018, came in a series of Tweets posted to the President's account and beginning with a simple celebratory day ("Mañana será Día de Fiesta Nacional"), soon changed to a public holiday ("Mañana será libre para los trabajadores del sector público y privado.") then to a school holiday ("En un Día de Fiesta Nacional también se suspenden las clases en las escuelas públicas y privadas del país, celebren en familia") and finally an announcement that the relevant decrees had been signed ("Decretos firmados, ustedes se lo merecen, Viva la sele, Viva Panama!!!!").
The declaration of Wednesday, October 11, 2017, as a one-off public holiday in Panama thus amends the list of official bank holidays and public holidays in Panama for the calendar year 2017, as announced earlier this year (2017-02-03).
