The Peruvian government has declared a public holiday on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, to allow Peruvians to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match of Peru against Colombia.
As per the Supreme Decree, published in an Edición Extraordinaria de las Normas Legales del Diario Oficial El Peruano, the Peruvian public sector will benefit from public holiday beginning at 4pm, local time ("declaró jornada no laborable, a escala nacional, para los trabajadores del sector público entre las 16:00 y 23:59 horas del martes 10 de octubre, a fin de que se puedan implementar las medidas de seguridad por el partido de la selección peruana frente a sus similar de Colombia, por la última fecha de las Eliminatorias al Mundial de Rusia 2018").
The aforementioned declaration of Tuesday, October 10, 2017, as a public holiday in Peru, to allow Peruvians to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match of Peru against Colombia, is in addition to the Kuczynski government's Decreto Supremo 001-2017-PCM, at the beginning of this year (2017-01-07) and the amended and expanded version of its previously-released (2016-12-22) list of the official non-working public holidays in Peru for the upcoming calendar year 2017 ("feriados para sector público y privado").
