Philippines Presidential Spokesman, Ernesto Abella, has announced that President Rodrigo Duterte had declared a one-off non-working public sector holiday and school holiday in the Philippines on September 21 the date when mass demonstrations are expected to mark the 45th anniversary of the declaration of martial law through but Proclamation 1081, dated September 21, 1972.

Late last week (2017-09-16), we had reported that Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte was considering the declaration of a one-off non-working public sector holiday and school holiday in the Philippines on September 21 the date when mass demonstrations are expected.

The aforementioned declaration of a one-off non-working public sector holiday and school holiday in the Philippines, on September 21, thus amends the list of official public holidays in the Philippines, released last summer (2016-08-18), when Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 50, s. 2016.
