The Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, has announced that the government of Samoa had declared a half-day non-working public sector holiday in Samoa, on Thursday, September 28, 2017, "for the public service as a part of an effort to recognise their work and contribution to the development of Samoa".

The declaration of Thursday, September 28, 2017, as a non-working public holiday in Samoa, is in addition to the quadrennial list of official non-working public holidays in Samoa for the calendar years 2015-2016-2017-2018, as released by the Samoan Ministry of Commerce, Industry And Labour in past years (2014-04-20 and 2011-09-06).
