The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has received feedback from the ministries it consulted last month concerning the 2 options contained in the draft annual list of the official non-working public holidays in Vietnam for the upcoming calendar year 2018, and all 6 concerned ministries have replied with a preference for Option 2, the one where the annual Tet Nguyên dán lunar new year of Vietnam would start 2 days before the Lunar New Year.

Late last month (29-Sep-2017), Vietnam's Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) had issued a draft containing its proposed annual list of the official non-working public holidays in Vietnam for the upcoming calendar year 2018, with, as is often the case, 2 different options being drafted for the annual Tet Nguyên dán lunar new year of Vietnam.

As per the revised new Labour Code (22-Mar-2010 and 16-Nov-2009), adopted at the third session of the 13th National Assembly (21-Jun-2012), and which took effect on May 1st, 2013, the annual Tet Vietnamese non-working public holidays were extended from 4 to 5 days and, as was the case 2 years ago (15-Oct-2015) but not in other years (21-Nov-2016, 12-Nov-2014 and 05-Dec-2013), the aforementioned MOLISA draft list of Vietnamese public holidays for 2018, suggests no swap of weekend days for additional public holidays in Vietnam during the Tet 2018.

Neither of the 2 options proposed by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of the government of Vietnam for the list of 2018 public holidays in Vietnam included any swapping of weekend days off with bridge working days.

After this initial unofficial decision decision (02-Nov-2016) we can expect an official approval (21-Nov-2016), of the aforementioned list of the official non-working public holidays in Vietnam for the upcoming calendar year 2018, in November 2017.
