The Nigerian Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared Wednesday and Thursday, May 12-13, 2021, as non-working public holidays throughout Nigeria, on account of the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri (End of Ramadan) annual public holidays of Nigeria.

The aforementioned announcement that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared Wednesday and Thursday, May 12-13, 2021, as non-working public holidays is contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Shuaib Belgore.

Contrary to what happened in some previous years (2016-06-30, 2015-07-14, 2014-07-23, 2013-08-05, 2012-08-13, 2009-09-18 and 2008-09-25), though not systematically (2020-05-21, 2019-05-31, 2018-06-11, 2017-06-22, 2011-08-24 and 2010-09-03), the Nigerian Government did not move the upcoming End of Ramadan public holidays to adjoin a nearby weekend, not did it need to declare a bridge public holiday as was done a few years ago (2016-07-05).
