The recently passed law 19.559 of March 30, 1998, amends the current banking regulations (Ley General de Bancos) by re-introducing an annual year-end bank holiday, "feriado bancario de fin de año", on December 31st.
This year-end bank holiday was a regular fixture of the Chilean public holidays calendar from 1956 until it was abrogated last year (04-Nov-1997).
