Uganda Declares February 28 Public Holiday

A statement issued by the Ugandan Ministry of Public Service has declared tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28, 2001, a one-off public holiday to allow people to go and check their names in the voters' register and pick cards for voting.

Electoral public holidays are common in Uganda (05-Nov-1997).

Most recently, Uganda's Ministry of Public Service had declared Friday, January 19th, 2001, a one-off public holiday to enable people to participate in updating voters registers (18-Jan-2001).
