Late yesterday, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA) issued Proclamation No. 856 declaring Monday, June 13, 2005, as a special non-working day throughout the Philippines.
The proclamation states that as the commemoration of Independence Day (June 12) this year falls on a Sunday, the following day (Monday, June 13) may be declared as a special non-working day.
But the proclamation does state that all activities and celebrations related to Independence Day shall remain to be observed on Sunday, June 12.
Recall that, a week ago (01-Jun-2005), President Arroyo had announced that Monday, June 13, 2005, would remain a regular working day even though June 12, Independence Day, falls on a Sunday this year, "based on the request of many employers".
