Under a special expedited procedure (trámite ultraveloz) both houses of Argentina's Congress are expected to approve the creation of a new, annual, March 24, public holiday.
The new public holiday, requested by Argentina's president, Néstor Kirchner, marks, this year, the 30th anniversary of the 1976 military coup. Observed as the "Día Nacional por la Memoria, la Verdad y la Justicia" working day commemorative date, since 2002, its conversion to an annual non-working public holiday would not be accompanied by the usual change of date that occur for other public holidays, depending on the day of the week when they fall (este feriado no será movible).
