The Council of Ministers of Rwanda has issued a communiqué, following today's council, confirming that, beginning in 2006, International Women's Day (March 8) would no longer be celebrated as an official non-working public holiday.
The Government of Rwanda had listed International Women's Day as an annual public holiday in the "Arrêté Présidentiel n° 101/01 du 25/12/2003 déterminant les jours fériés" which legislates the list of Rwandan non-working public holidays, their date, and how many days each one lasts (29-Dec-2003).
