Zambia's Information Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Nyirenda, has issued a statement that the Zambian cabinet had decided to add International Women's Day to the list of Zambian official public holidays.
Chief government spokesperson, Vernon Mwaanga, did point out that the change, based on the recommendation from the Minister of Gender and Women Development, Sara Sayifwanda, would only be effective as of calendar year 2008.
