Chile's electoral commission has released the Cronograma Electoral of the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections, confirming the date of Friday, December 11, for the first round of these elections, and that it will be an official public holiday.

There had been some recent debate (14-Jan-2009) about the date of the first round of the elections falling on a weekday, for the first time since the the return of democracy to Chile, but that debate seems to be over.

The expected second round will occur on January 10, 2010, during a weekend.
