Malcañang Press Secretary, Cerge Remonde, has announced that Philippines President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, had exempted workers of the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and electronics sectors, from the recently declared September 7 and 21 public holidays.

The request to declare September 7 and 21, 2009, regular working days for workers in the business process outsourcing (BPO) and electronics sectors, was made at the request of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), citing the "24/7" nature of the two sectors.

Monday, September 7, 2009, was declared a non-working public holiday, yesterday, to coincide with the funeral of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) executive minister Erano "Ka Erdy" Manalo (04-Sep-2009).

September 21, 2009, was confirmed as the date of the upcoming Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) national public holiday, earlier this month (01-Sep-2009).
