Poland Epiphany Public Holiday Restoration Update

(Posted on Sunday, April 19, 2009)

Source: Polish Radio (Warsaw)

Polish Radio reports that the Mayor of Lódz, Jerzy Kropiwnicki, is expected to hand over a petition to the speaker of the Sejm, Poland's lower house, restoring the January 6, Epiphany, national public holiday.

According to the Polish Radio report, the mayor of Lódz claims he managed to gather over a million signatures. It is not clear, yet, from this report, if this is a continuation of the same petition which led to a first vote and rejection by the Sejm last year (27-Jun-2008, 22-Sep-2008, and 17-Oct-2008).
