The recent proposal for an annual March bank holiday, initiated by the Central Bank of Qatar, was approved at a recent session of Qatar's cabinet, presided by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
This new annual, banks-only, holiday, if approved by Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, would be observed on the first Sunday of March, starting in 2010.
Recall that, since 2000, the weekends in Qatar are Fridays and Saturdays (18-Sep-1999).
