The government of Samoa has declared a half day public holiday on Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2009, to pay respect for the victims of last Wednesday's tsunami, which killed 143 people.
Media reports, earlier this week (05-Oct-2009), had been that a public holiday would be declared on Friday, October 9th, 2009.
