The government of Trinidad and Tobago has confirmed that the date of the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holiday would be Monday, September 21, 2009.
The statement by the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Information pointed out that the declaration had been made by President George Maxwell Richards, acting in accordance with the provisions of the Public Holidays and Festivals Act Chapter 19:05. Usually, such announcements are made by the Prime Minister.
Note that the Trinidad Muslim League (TML) has announced that the religiously observed Eid-ul-Fitr would most likely fall on Sunday, September 20, 2009.
