The Gibraltar opposition (GSLP/Liberals) has called on the GSD Government to make April 29th, 2011, a one-off bank/public holiday in Gibraltar to coincide with the 2011 wedding of Prince William.

The "Bank And Public Holidays Order 2010" (LN. 2010/149) which set forth the bank holidays and public holidays for Gibraltar in the calendar year 2011, was published (04-Nov-2010) before the date of the royal wedding was announced (18-Nov-2010).

The UK (23-Nov-2010), Scotland (24-Nov-2010), and the Isle of Man (26-Nov-2010), have already announced that April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday, while Jersey (22-Nov-2010) and Guernsey (24-Nov-2010) are currently considering the idea.
