Lithuania's Social Democratic Party has introduced legislation in the Seimas (Parliament) that would declare December 24, Christmas Eve, an annual non-working public holiday.
Apparently, the aforementioned legislation was proposed as December 25 falls on a weekend in 2010 and 2011, and because public holidays falling on a weekend no longer give rise to a day in lieu public holiday (09-Jan-2009).
