The President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, has declared Sunday, November 14, 2010, as a one-off public holiday.

In compensation, Saturday, November 27, 2010, has been declared a regular working day.

As per the official announcement, the aforementioned bridge public holiday will "extend the weekend to link-up (the November 11 Republic Day) with the Eid holidays" (weekends are Fridays and Saturdays in the Maldives).

Note that, as per the officially announced 2010 public holidays (05-Jan-2010), the upcoming Eid holidays will be on November 15 and 16 for all, with 3 additional days for the public sector.
