Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Jeannette Chávez Gómez, has announced that following complaints from the private sector, she had amended the terms of the upcoming December 7, half-day public holiday.
In the acuerdo ministerial JCHG-014-11-10, announced last week (01-Dec-2010), Nicaragua's Ministerio del Trabajo (Mitrab) had declared a general paid public holiday (asueto con goce de salario) for the afternoon of Tuesday, December 7, 2010, beginning at 13:00 (1pm).
The aforementioned revised announcement now says that the half-day public holiday will be deducted from private sector employees' annual vacation time (a cuenta de vacaciones).

Nicaragua Amends December 7 Public Holiday
