The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, October 1, 2010, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 50th Independence Day Anniversary.
In addition, Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Emmanuel Ihenacho, has announced that a half-day public sector holiday for all government offices had been declared for the day before, Thursday, September 30, 2010, beginning at noon, "to enable Nigerians to prepare for a memorable Golden Jubilee celebration".
An additional National Day public holiday was also added 2 years ago (25-Sep-2008).
